The Simmons Firm Donates $250,000 to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation

The Simmons Firm, a co-counsel of Sokolove Law, has announced that it will once again make a sizable donation to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation to help fund research towards an eventual cure for the deadly asbestos cancer.

The Simmons Firm, one of the nation’s leading asbestos and mesothelioma litigations firms that has represented more than 2,000 patients and families affected by the disease, will donate $250,000 to MARF, making the firm a “2011 Legal Partner for a Cure.”

Since its inception, MARF has raised more than $7.1 million for peer-reviewed mesothelioma research. More than $2 million of that total has come from Simmons, making the firm the top cumulative donor.

“Funding peer-reviewed research and offering authoritative medical expertise to all mesothelioma patients and their families are the core purposes of the foundation,” said Kathleen Wiedemer, the executive director of MARF. “Through the Simmons law firm’s leadership level of support in our 2011 Legal Partners Program, the foundation will be well-positioned to continue our efforts to help the mesothelioma community, promote awareness of this devastating disease and continue supporting medical researchers as they work toward a cure.”

The Simmons Firm will also support MARF’s Annual International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma, which will be held June 23-25 in Washington, D.C.

If you or a loved one has been exposed to asbestos by using certain products or working for certain companies and have subsequently been diagnosed with mesothelioma, there may be legal options worth pursuing to obtain a mesothelioma settlement. Contact a mesothelioma attorney if you have any questions about the details of asbestos law and what is needed to pursue a settlement from the manufacturer of the asbestos product (not necessarily your company).
