Ban Asbestos Now Recognizes National Mesothelioma Awareness Day

As many of you know, September 26, 2010 has been declared National Mesothelioma Awareness Day. And hopefully, since you’re already here on the Ban Asbestos Now website, you’re interested in making a difference to recognize this important occasion.

Anyone whose life has been affected by mesothelioma knows the importance of increased education, awareness and treatments. This Sunday, National Mesothelioma Day will be an entire day devoted to people diagnosed with mesothelioma, their families and anyone dedicated to helping fight this devastating illness.

Interested in helping? It’s easy and you don’t even have to move from your seat. First, you can take a moment to sign our letter to Congress urging them to ban asbestos. The form is on our homepage and only takes seconds to complete. You can also share your story on our tribute wall to let others see how this deadly material affects people’s lives. Additionally, you can suggest people like us on Facebook to help spread the word and make this a national movement.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) also has a number of recommendations and local activities you can participate in. You can find a list of them here and here.

At the top of this post is a quick video emphasizing the importance of raising mesothelioma awareness. As you can see, there is no action too small. Together we can make a difference by banning asbestos and eliminating mesothelioma once and for all!
