The family of a former UK shipyard employee who contracted mesothelioma has won an asbestos lawsuit.
According to the Echo, Ted Hall was diagnosed at age 80 with mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure he experienced when he worked for 15 years at Hudson Dock and Pallion Yard on the Wear. He died in December 2010, five months after he was diagnosed with the disease.
The family claims that he was never warned of the dangers of asbestos nor was he provided with any protection during his time at the dock.
“Ted was exposed to asbestos when he was just a teenager and, as a result, mesothelioma took his life. It was important to the family to make sure that someone took responsibility for his painful death,” his wife said, according to the Echo
