Mr. Corbett Duhon and his wife Barbara filed a mesothelioma lawsuit in Orange County District Court on March 3rd, 2010 against 49 companies claiming negligence and malicious wrong-doing regarding her husband’s health. The couple claims that during Mr. Duhon’s career as a refinery worker for such companies as AMF Inc, Viacom, Ford Motor Company, and Zurn Industries his health was put at risk by these companies.
Documents presented to the court during the trail have stated that Mr. Duhon was allegedly exposed to asbestos materials and products during his 20 year career working at shipyards, refineries, and mills. Mr. Duhon was diagnosed with mesothelioma on December 8, 2009, and medical evidence points to asbestos exposure being the cause of his diagnosis. In the couple’s mesothelioma lawsuit, they claim that the defendants (the 49 companies) failed to warn their employees of the dangers that come with asbestos exposure, and then went on to intentionally cover up medical records and data that would prove the dangerous connection between asbestos and health hazards.
The Orange county couple’s mesothelioma attorney is suing for exemplary and punitive damages in their case against the named companies. Many people just like Mr. and Mrs. Duhon are contacting qualified mesothelioma lawyers in hopes of bringing their mesothelioma lawsuit to trial.
The burden of proof lies on the persons bringing the case to trail, also known as the plaintiffs. They must prove to the court that their asbestos exposure came as a direct result of working for these companies, and then identity which asbestos products they came into contact with during their careers. If you or a loved one has been exposed to asbestos in the workplace, you are entitled to proper representation in court.
