NY Man Guilty of Illegal Dumping Faces Further Fines

As an update to an Asbestos.net News item posted in July, New York District Court Judge Frederick Scullin Jr. has ordered illegal asbestos dumper Paul Mancuso to repay the Environmental Protection Agency the cost of cleaning up the asbestos he disposed in a Hermiker County field.  Mancuso is currently in prison on a 6 year sentence after being found guilty in June.  His latest fine will cost him $17,972.68, broken into monthly installements.

Mancuso’s brother, Steven, and father, Lester, were also involved in the asbestos plot and are both serving about 3 years in jail.  All three Mancuso’s were found in violation of the Clean Air Act for illegally dumping asbestos, a known carcinogen responsible for health problems such as asbestosis and mesothelioma.
