Dr. Lary Allan Robinson was born in the State of Kansas, and he has been in the medical profession for more than 36 years. He is currently the Director of the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. He is a member of the multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology group, which evaluates and treats all stages of mesothelioma. His clinical and research interests include advanced lung cancer and aggressive surgical management of mesothelioma. Dr. Robinson is a member of the multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Group. This group evaluates and treats all stages of mesothelioma.

Dr. Robinson attended the University of Kansas where he received his undergraduate degree. He received his medical degree in 1972 from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his Internship in General and Thoracic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, in 1974. He was a Flight Surgeon for the United States Air Force in 1976 and in 1977 he returned to Duke University to complete his Fellowship in Surgery Research. In 1981, Dr. Robinson completed his Residency in General and Thoracic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center and in 1982, he completed his Fellowship in Cardiology at St. Thomas Hospital in London. After completing his Fellowhship in London, Dr. Robinson returned to Duke University Medical Center for his Cardiac Surgery Fellowship, which he completed in 1983.

Before he was appointed Director of the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Dr. Robinson was an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pharmacology and the Clinical Director of the Clinical Perfusion Science Education Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Robinson is also a Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa and the principal Thoracic Surgical Oncologist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.

Dr. Robinson is certified in Surgical Critical Care, and he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS).

Dr. Robinson is on the Science Advisory Board of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF), and he is involved in eight clinical cancer research programs involving mesothelioma and lung cancer. He has over 125 published works to his credit including books, articles, studies, and commentaries, as author and co-author.
