Four companies have been fined a total of $36,800 for violating Oregon’s asbestos law during renovations at a Monmouth apartment last December.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted May 29 to approve an appropriations bill that includes a provision ordering the Commerce Department to investigate imports of brake products containing asbestos.

Lunchtime at Sneads High School is congested and the rushed. The lunchroom was ideal 60 years ago when it was built, but now the school has grown and so has the need for expansion. The renovation project was approved last year but it didn’t include asbestos removal in the kitchen area.
