Dr. Bruce G. Haffty has been in the medical profession for more than 24 years. He is Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Dr. Haffty is also Professor of Radiation Oncology and Chief of the Division of Radiology Oncology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Dr. Haffty’s interests include breast cancer, head cancer, and neck cancer. His specialty is Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Haffty received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut in 1984. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine from 1984-1985 at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut and his Residency in Internal Medicine, also at Yale New Haven Hospital, from 1985-1987. From 1987-1988, Dr. Haffty completed his Residency in Therapeutic Radiology at Yale New Haven Hospital and received his Radiology Oncology Certification with the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 1988.

Dr. Haffty was a Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at the Yale School of Medicine and he served as Residency Program Director from 1992-2004, and Vice Chairman and Clinical Director from 2002-2005. He started at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and The Cancer Institute of New Jersey in 2005.

Dr. Haffty is affiliated with the Breast Oncology Program at the New Jersey Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center; The Dean and Betty Gallo Prostate Cancer Center; Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey; The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, New Jersey, and the Raritan Bay Medical Center in New Jersey.

Dr. Haffty has been awarded many research grants and he conducts clinical and translational research in his areas of expertise. In addition to numerous editorials and letters, Dr. Haffty has published more than 25 book chapters, and 180 peer-reviewed articles. He was listed in Best Doctors in America, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, and America’s Top Doctors as one of the country’s top doctors.

Dr. Haffty is Assistant Executive Director of the American Board of Radiology, Chairman of the Breast Exam Committee of the American Board of Radiology, Trustee of the American Board of Radiology, and a Member of the executive committee of the American Radium Society (ARS).
