Scott & White Healthcare is home to dozens, if not hundreds of departments, divisions and centers such as the Allergy and Immunology Center, Blood Center, the Bone and Joint Institute, the Heart and Vascular Institute, the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Women's Health Center, and the Cancer Institute.
The Scott & White Healthcare Cancer Institute is made up of several locations and 12 multidisciplinary cancer teams that treat all types of cancers from A-Z. These teams include the: Breast Cancer Team and Treatment Clinic, Bone and Joint Cancer Team, Central Nervous System Cancer Team, Endocrine Cancer Team, Gastrointestinal Cancer Team and Clinic, Genitourinary Cancer Team, Gynecologic Cancer Team and Clinic Head and Neck Cancer Team, Nuclear Radiology, Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma Team Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Team, the Skin Cancer (Melanoma) Team, and the Lung Cancer Team and Treatment Clinic.
The Lung Cancer Team and the Lung Cancer Treatment Clinic offer treatment for mesothelioma and other cancers of the lung small cell lung cancer or "Oat cell cancer" as well as non-small cell lung cancer (squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and large cell carcinoma).
The Lung Cancer Center offers combined therapy with surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Potentially qualifying patients are also screened for clinical trials that may be available for lung cancer. The Lung Cancer Center's Lung Cancer Treatment Clinic is held on Monday of every week. Patients who are seen in the Lung Cancer Treatment Clinic will discuss their cases with specialists in pulmonary medicine, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and/or thoracic surgery.
