Dr. Michael Kashgarian has been in the medical profession for more than 50 years. He is Professor of Pathology (Tissue & Organ Diseases) at Yale University Cancer Center in New Haven , CT. In addition to his primary office, Dr. Kashgarian has secondary offices at Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center , 111 Goose Lane , Guilford , CT 06437 . In addition to mesothelioma, Dr. Kashgarian's clinical areas of interest are numerous. Dr. Kashgarian’s areas of clinical areas of interest are in advanced imaging techniques, electron microscopy, renal pathology, renal cancer, kidney cancer, pediatric cancer, unknown primary cancers, and transplantation. Dr. Kashgarian’s research interests are numerous as well. His areas of interest in research include: renal pathology, cell biology, and physiology, as well as cell injury and death, immunopathology, and transplantation.

Dr. Kashgarian attended the Yale University ’s Yale School of Medicine in New Haven , Connecticut . He received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from Yale School of Medicine on May 1, 1958 . He began his Residency in Internal Medicine two months later, in July of 1958, at Barnes Hospital of Washington University. He completed it in 1959. Dr. Kashgarian began his Residency in Pathology at the Yale- New Haven Medical Center , in New Haven , Connecticut , in July of 1959 and he completed it in 1963.

Dr. Kashgarian began his Post Doctoral studies in July of 1961, at the University of Goettingen , in Germany . He completed his Post Doctoral studies in Renal Physiology at the University of Goettingen , in Germany in June of 1962. From 1963-1964 Dr. Kashgarian completed his Fellowship in Laboratory Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital .

Today, in addition to his position as Professor of Pathology at Yale University Cancer Center , Dr. Kashgarian is a speaker, lecturer, and presenter. Dr. Kashgarian presents courses at possibly the most important teaching conference in the world, devoted to clinical nephrology. The “Renal Grand Rounds,” held weekly and attended by all trainees and faculty in both pediatric and adult nephrology, provides a forum to discuss interesting management and diagnostic issues, and to review the literature on current and controversial issues.

Dr. Kashgarian received his Board Certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology in 1967 and he became Board Certified in Medicolegal Pathology in 1968.
