Dr. Lambros Zellos began pursuing his medical career in 1986. He attended the University of Maryland from 1986-1990, graduating with a B.S. in Biology. Dr. Zellos attended Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., beginning in 1990, and he received his M.D. in May of 1994. His postgraduate training highlights a long list of positions including: General Surgery Intern (PGY-1) at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C., from 1994-1995; General Surgery Resident (PGY-2) at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C., from 1995-1996, and Clinical/Research Fellow, Division of Cardiac Surgery, West Roxbury, VA/Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA., from 1996-1997.

Additionally, Dr. Lambros Zellos was General Surgery Resident (PGY-3&4) at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C., from 1997-1999; Chief Resident General Surgery (PGY-5) at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C., from 1999-2000; Thoracic Surgery Oncology Fellow Division of Thoracic Surgery at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, MA., from 2000-2002, and he completed his Thoracic Surgery Residency at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA., (2002-2004). Dr. Lambros also received his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2001.

Throughout his academic and professional medical career, Dr. Zellos received several awards and honors, and became a member of numerous professional organizations. He received the Marguerite George Resident Award for Excellence in Vascular Surgery in 2000 and the John J. Collins Cardiothoracic Surgeon Scholar Award in 2004. Dr. Zellos belongs to the American Medical Association (AMA), the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), and the Candidate Group American College of Surgeons (ACS).

Dr. Zellos received his Commonwealth of Massachusetts Medical License in 1996, District of Columbia Medical License in 1999, Certificate for the American Board of Surgery in 2004, and his American Board of Thoracic Surgery Certificate in 2005. Dr. Lambros Zellos has more than a dozen publications and presentations to his credit, including papers on multimodality therapy as well as methods to improve surgical techniques. Just a few presentations include: Complications following Extrapleural Pneumonectomy for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma, presented at IASLC 2004 Mesothelioma Workshop in Ermitage , Switzerland , Small Bowel Carcinoma & Crohn's disease, presented at Georgetown University Medical Center Department of Surgery Grand Rounds in November 1997, and GE Reflux, presented at Brigham & Women's Hospital.

In addition to Associate Surgeon & Clinical Co-Director Of International Mesothelioma Program, Dr. Zellos is also an Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School .
