Regional Recurrence

When a cancerous tumor has been removed surgically - as is standard procedure with cancer of the breast or lung - it may return in a nearby or related part of the body. It also may have metastasized - spread - to those areas. This phenomenon is known as regional recurrence. Generally, regional recurrence refers to metastases to neighboring lymph nodes.
