About Asbestos.Net

When we set out to re-create Asbestos.Net after being online for years, we had one goal in mind – to create the single most comprehensive resource on the internet, or perhaps in any form, on the topic of asbestos and the related illnesses that it causes, such as mesothelioma, a rare form of asbestos cancer.

After months (In-fact, more than a year!) of research, consultation, writing, editing, and coding, we would like to think we have accomplished that goal: Asbestos.Net, in connection with our sister site Asbestos-Abatement.com, is currently the one of the most in-depth sources of information on the topic of asbestos and asbestos related illnesses available… Anywhere.

Asbestos is perhaps best described as the ‘devil’s rock’ – a compound so strong that it can withstand extremely hot temperatures, and so deadly that it can kill a person in a matter of months. Made up of a variety of different minerals, asbestos has been used since ancient times in many different shapes and forms, from table cloths that could be ‘burned’ clean, to wicks in candles, and many other uses. And while there were varied reports throughout time of the ‘slaves’ disease (In reference to the fact that, in ancient times, many of the slaves who were forced to work with the fibers developed lung diseases and died), it wasn’t until the late 19th and early 20th century that the true dangers of asbestos became known – Asbestos causes cancer, in most cases a rare form known as Mesothelioma.

From that point on, the history and story of asbestos takes a particularly deadly and tragic turn – Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people continued to be exposed to the deadly mineral in one of America’s, if not the world’s, worst examples of human callousness. Rather than informing the general public of the danger and immediately discontinuing it’s use, both the United States government and the companies that produced products containing the mineral chose instead to ‘cover up’ the dangers, and mass produce and market thousands of products containing asbestos – continuing on until today.

Asbestos.Net chronicles this deadly history, as well as provides a large and in-depth library of information on the many diseases and cancers caused by asbestos, how they are diagnosed, treated, and more. The content found on Asbestos.net is reviewed by an independent editorial board, which includes an oncologist, a registered nurse, a social worker, a veterans' advocate, and more. This has allowed us to create one of the most up-to-date and reliable information sources found on mesothelioma and asbestos cancer today: Consistently helping to provide patients and families with thorough, accurate information as they begin their search for answers, information, and mesothelioma treatment options. While only a physician can provide specific medical advice and treatment, we can offer information and support along the way.

This includes thousands of well-researched, plain English, and easy-to-understand articles - many of which have been reviewed by a licensed oncologist - on topics like:

And much, much, more.

If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with mesothelioma or lung cancer and need help, we invite you to explore the thousands of pages of oncologist reviewed material on asbestos.net, to call our convenient toll-free number to speak with a mesothelioma specialist, or to use our simple contact form to request a free copy of our information package, which includes multiple informative books, custom inserts, and a DVD.
